Ok gals...I am in desperate need of some new recipes for something simple to cook for supper. My husband is picky and there aren't many places to shop around here to get weird spices or veggies. HELP!! I need something different to cook for supper tonight!

Cold Weekend!

It was cold for here this weekend and yucky, so it was perfect weather to stay indoors. Friday night entailed on Chris and I playing board games with our friends, Mike and Diana. We played Scattegories, Outburst, Trivial Pursuit III. Seems like we played something else but I can't remember. We ate chilli and the kids had a blast playing with their friends. Of course, I forgot to take the camera! On Saturday night, Mike and Diana came to our house along with Corie, Justin and Diesel. We played Trivial Pursuit 80's version (very hard) and Uno Attack. I LOVE LOVE Uno Attack and it will be my next purchase! I figured the trivial pursuit would be a slam dunk for me because I love the 80's and I love trivial pursuit. So wrong..it had some really hard questions. Now I am also on the quest to find the 90's version. Once again, I forgot to take pics! Anyway, on to the movies I watched over the weekend. They were watched on Saturday and mostly Sunday afternoon.

Sydney White stars Amanda Bynes. I love that girl. She is just goofy and my kind of people so any movie she is in, I normally like. It is about this girl who goes to college and tries to pledge as she is a legacy for this certain sorority and of course, this mean girl that is over the sorority doesn't like her and kicks her out and blah blah and she ends up being friends with these really geeky guys and helps them to save their house on campus. I give it 5 stars. Good clean fun, even Lauren watched and liked it!

Blonde Ambition stars Jessica Simpson and Luke Wilson. I like Luke Wilson and I like girly movies, so I figured even though it had Jessica in it, I would try it. It was ok. It is about a country girl that follows her fiance/high school sweetheart to New York City only to find him with another girl. She gets a job at some big time place and tries to save the company from going into the hands of a mean lady. I give it 2 1/2 stars.

Bug stars Ashley Judd and Harry Connick, Jr. I am a fan of both of these actors. I didn't get into this movie enough before I turned it off to really tell you what it is about. It is suppose to be a thriller. I give it 0 stars.

I Know Who Killed Me stars Lindsey Lohan. This movie was also a flop and we didn't watch all of it. All I can say is someone was kidnapping girls and torturing them by cutting their hand and foot off on one side and when she went to the hospital, she said she was this other lady and not the girl she was when she was tortured. Weird...boring. I give it 0 stars also.

Saw IV: Twisted, but true, I love all the Saw movies. They are horrible, I know, but I can't help it. What does that make me? I know movies like this just give someone crazy the ideas to do these things, but I can't quit watching them and I can't wait until next Halloween for Saw V. I know they will have one, I'm sure. This movie shows how Jigsaw came to be and why and of course he has someone keeping on his tradition even after he is dead. I give this 5 stars.

Queen Sized was a Lifetime movie starring Nikki Blonsky from Hairspray. It was about a girl who was nominated for Homecoming Queen as a joke and ends up winning to prove that fat girls can be someone too. I think this movie was ok, but a little too dramatic. It is a true story, but I heard the girl that really did this was a bully and not as nice as Nikki portrayed her. I give it 4 stars.

Last, but not least...

We Are Marshall stars Matthew Fox and Matthew McConaughey. It is a true story about a football team from Marshall University who all died in a plane crash coming home from a football game in 1970. They revamped the team and got the school and town back in the spirit. Such a moving story. I give it 5 stars.

Monday, Monday & a SWAP

I have a couple of things to post about today. First and foremost, the boy band of all boy bands is back together and planning a new tour. The New Kids on the Block are back according to People and TMZ.com. I know this sounds ridiculous, but I went to one of their concerts then and I would probably go to one now if the tickets weren't very high! haha

Also, we played rock band last Sunday night at my friend, Tara's house. This is me on the guitar. I love me some Guitar Hero as some of you may know. Rock band has some great songs, but there is such a delay that it gets kind of frustrating.

Update and Weather

Update on my grandmother: They drilled not one, but two holes in her skull yesterday to relieve the fluid/pressure/blood out of her brain. She is doing better so far and she is talking and hearing again and knew my dad when he asked her who he was. She just looked at him like he was crazy for even asking! haha Thanks for all your prayers and wonderful comments..still keep her in your prayers please!

Well, South Arkansas gets icy weather once a year or so and today is our day I guess. School has already let out at 9 this morning and the ice sure is building up around here. It is 26 degrees right now and the high tomorrow is 51! What kind of sense does that make?

RIP Heath

Heath Ledger was found in his home yesterday around 3:00 p.m. EST dead. There was a bottle of sleeping pills on his nightstand and he is said to have been suffering from pneumonia. He was only 28. I am shocked and pray that his family and little girl find peace in this. They are doing an autopsy on him today. He was a great actor. I don't think there was one movie of his that I didn't like.
RIP Heath.
UPDATE: They have confirmed that they have sent off for a Toxicology report and that Xanax, Valium and Ambien were found in his home. We'll see.

Please Pray

Please pray for my grandmother. She fell last Tuesday and hit her head on her toilet right in the base of her head. It did not fracture her skull, but her brain is now bleeding and right now they are trying to help her with meds. If this doesn't help, they have talked about drilling a hole and letting the blood drain out, but she will for sure have brain damage with this procedure. She has lost her hearing, can't talk and has quit eating. She is 83, but you know you are never prepared for a loss. My dad has just now let us know about this or I would have asked for prayers sooner. Thanks everyone!

Just wanted to share!

My sister in law's boyfriend is a photographer and he took some pics of each individual family at Christmas. Of course, once again, my kids didn't cooperate as good as they should and Chris didn't much either, but here are the pics we ended up with! haha

This is the one I like the best.

Poopy Mom

After reading several posts today of moms and the things they do with their kids, I have come to realize that I am a poopy mom. I need some advice from all the Super Moms out there which is all of you! Shelley has this great system going it seems and I would like to get to that point. She has a system where her girls have a timer and they get privileges according to the timer and there are no tangible prizes (i.e. toys, candy, etc.) which is what I have turned into doing and it isn't very effective I have found with Lauren, my youngest. My kids DO watch too much tv. I want this to stop, but don't know how to get it stop without there being World War III at my house. I put them to bed at 7:00 only to let them watch TV until 9:00. I know, I know, I should be shot into the mommy hall of no fame for this. It used to be that they fell asleep right after turning the TV on and I could go in and turn it off. Now, they have gotten to where they stay awake until I turn it off at 9:00. I need help and advice from the super mom's out there. I need alternatives to things that can keep my children busy while I'm busy besides TV. Yes, they do play but still. They do each have a TV in their room. Should I take them out and if so, how do I do this without them thinking they are in trouble? HELP!

Wow!

On the blog, Tangled and True that Erica now contributes to, they have these snazzy glasses you can wear while cutting an onion. I don't know how to say go HERE and you click on the link, so I copied and posted. Can someone tell me how to do that?
With my resolve to become a gourmet {practicing most nights}, I can imagine these onion action goggles coming in quite handy. I've never done onions well.
"Our Onion Action Goggles perform a duty (they are anti-fog and provide a foam seal against vapors) but primarily, they place the chef in a different league."So sleek and stylish and perfectly pink. Brilliant.

Tinseltown Tuesday-No More

Sorry for anyone looking for Tinseltown Tuesday. I have decided to quit doing it. Tinseltown just isn't as exciting lately and I have been scrounging to get anything that doesn't pertain to Britney and the whole Spears clan. Also, I have received some comments that I can do without.

Also, I watched the movie Waitress this weekend. It stars Kerri Russell and she is in a bad marriage and becomes pregnant. She has an affair with her OB/GYN and you will just have to watch to find out what happens. It is ok and I gave it 4 stars.

Swap Loot

I have already received a swap item! On Saturday, I was majorly surprised to see a package at my doorstep. I had a participant whose partner backed out so I bought for her and she bought for me. So, don't freak out when you see that I got two gifts. I didn't know what to else to do. So, Robin in Crossett was my swap partner and boy did she do grrrrreat! If anyone knows me very well, they know I LOVE monogrammed stuff! One of my resolutions was to cook more with my kids and she sent a package of brownie mix, a package of blueberry muffin mix, a monogrammed kitchen towel with Perry on it and Jackson, Lauren, and I each got a monogrammed apron with each of our names on it!! So original and so much fun! We cooked the muffins lastnight after the kids had their bath and we had fun doing it. Thanks Robin!!

Jackson loved his apron! He wore it for like an hour when he first opened it!

Jackson took this picture!

Ready to make muffins!!

To Do List

Debbi has started a "To Do" list for everyday this week. She asked what our "To Do" list was for yesterday. Mine was as follows:

1. finish this pile of patient charts and have a clean desk for in the morning
2. help tara make her myspace page cool/pretty
3. try to convience tara to start a blog on blogger!
4. catch up on laundry
5. clean laundry room so it doesn't look like a junk room anymore!

I'm happy to say that I got everything done except for #3. That will be a work in progress. So, I thought it would be fun to do this again today. I have really enjoyed doing my laundry lately and keeping it up to where I don't have this gigantor pile to do on my bed every Sunday night after the kids go to bed. I am immediately taking the clothes out of the dryer and folding/hanging them up. So, I would now like to get like this on other things...clutter, dusting, vaccumming. My "To Do" for today:

1. go grocery shopping
2. come up with ideas for putting toys away...we are running out of room
3. come up with an idea to make extra money
4. dust the living room
5. vaccuum
I like to do these things during the week so I can do whatever I want or relax on the weekends. What are some things on your TO DO list for today and does anyone have any ideas on my overflowing toy dilema?
(Lauren has 3 toy boxes and Jackson does as well.)

Spears Family Tuesday

Ok, so lets name the Tinseltown Tuesday today for what it really is....Spears Family Tuesday. Hollywood is super boring right now with the exception of the Spears Family. Wow! There has to be something else going on besides the New Hampshire Primary!

We all know Britney was taken last week from her home in an ambulance to Cedars-Sinai ankle strapped and all. She was held for a day or so and released. Her family wanted her to stay longer and Dr. Phil was even involved. What?? Dr. Phil, is he even a real Doc? Don't get me wrong, I love the man's show, but to really treat someone? Anyway, they (fam and doc) want Britney to stay in a treatment facility and get some inpatient psychiatric help. She's not having it. All custody and visitation of her children have been taken away from her, at least for now. She is to have a hearing in the next week or so. She DID NOT test positive for any kid of drugs, they think she is severely bipolar.

Jamie-Lynn was seen yesterday at an adult education center getting a GED study book. The girl can still go to school, what the crap?

Oh and Nicole Kidman is pregnant..it has been confirmed.
It makes you wonder, if she could have kids and Tom could have kids, why did they adopt before having biological children? Just wondering...

Have a good week!

Movie Weekend

Of course, from time to time, I get in the mood to just watch movies all weekend. This weekend, we watched the following:

Rush Hour 3 - Not as good as the other two, but okay. I hope they end it with this one. I give it 3 stars.

Superbad - This is superbad for sure. It is hilarious, but bad none the less and the F bomb is dropped A LOT. Definately not one for the kiddies or even kids up till 13! It is about these 3 nerdy guys that get invited to a party by some cute girls (of course - their crushes) and the whole night is spent trying to get alcohol for these girls to take to the party. Wild. I give it 4 stars.

The Ex - This movie was stupid funny, but is about a married couple that move back to the wife's (Amanda Peet) hometown for the husband (Zach Braff) to work with his father in law at an advertising agency. Her ex boyfriend from high school (Jason Bateman) also works there and tries everything to break them up. It was funny, but not over the top. I give it 4 stars.

The Number 23 - This was a definate must for you thriller seekers out there. It all starts when this guy (Jim Carrey) starts reading a book about this detective that becomes obsessed with the number 23 and he can make anything, colors, names, dates, end up adding in 23. Jim Carrey's character ends up thinking he is crazy from reading this book and goes searching for the person who wrote the book. It has a wild twist to the ending!! I give it 5 stars. Definately not Jim Carrey's usual movie at all.

Random Things

I just had several random things to blog about today. I just enjoyed taking pics over the weekend, but forgot to take some on my Birthday/New Years Eve. I don't know how I forgot to take the camera, but oh well.

Anyway, look how big Diesel is getting. He is 6 months old now and loves his baby food. I got to keep him Saturday while his mom was at work and he kept making these faces every time he would take a bite. Of course, I HAD to get this on camera, these are great yearbook pics! haha

Lauren has gotten into a weird habit the past week or so. At first, I thought she wasn't hungry and was playing with her food, but soon found out that as soon as she sits down she does this. She is breaking her food into tiny pieces before she will eat it. It doesn't matter what it is, lastnight's pic was of her popcorn chicken, which was already tiny to begin with. Weird?!

Also, Lauren got this Bella Dancerella Swan Lake thing for her birthday last year (it was in May) and we are just now opening it. When I got the camera out, the only one that would dance was Jackson. His daddy hasn't seen this, nor will he! haha

Tinseltown Tuesday/Wednesday

I wanted to get a Tinseltown Tuesday in since I wasn't able to do last week. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and an even better New Years. I can't believe it is already 2008, officially 10 years ago...I graduated from high school...freaky-10 years! Just think, if this was a movie set in the 80's or before, we should be in flying cars and stuff right now! haha

7. Quickies: Eddie Murphy got married over the weekend and Jessica Simpson is planning to record a country album. yipee.

6. Celebrity Fit Club Fans: Kimberly Locke (American Idol) was on the last season of Celebrity Fit Club and was the one in the line of fire most of the time from Dustin Diamond (Screech-SBTB) She was seen on New Years Eve out and about with trainer on the show and well known bada**, Sgt. Harvey Walden. Isn't he old enough to be her dad? P.S. He is married.
5. It is rumored that Lauren Conrad (The Hills) is back dating Stephen Colleti. You remember him, the sole reason why her and Kristin Cavallari "hate" each other? Also, Kristin is expected to be on The Hills this next season. Hmmmm....

4. Divorce News: Sean and Robin Wright Penn have decided to call it quits. They have been married for over 11 years which is a century in Hollywood time. I believe they have 3 kids. Also calling quits is Brendan Fraser and his wife who have been married for almost 10 years. They also have kids.
3. Mischa Barton (The O.C.) was busted for a DUI last week. She also had a controlled substance in her possession and was driving on a suspended driver's license. She must have been missing Marisa because sounds like she sure is channeling her!

2. Josh Duhamel and Fergie are engaged. Their children will be beautiful!

1. My man, Andy Baldwin was seen out and about this past week with a new lovely lady on his arm. Too bad she is old enough to be his mother!!! Marla Maples, ex of The Donald???? What the CRAP?

Have a good week!
And...Don't forget to sign up for the swap by tomorrow!!
